The “Big Orange Wave” Finish Season as State Runner-Up

The íÍBig Orange Waveíñ gave an outstanding performance in the State Championships on Tuesday in Natchitoches.  The Bears came through with their best team performance of the year to claim state runner-up honors, a mere three points behind the team champions.  In continuing a long and proud tradition the Waveí´s finish marked the 24th time that the Cross Country team has finished the season as the state champion or state runner up, an unprecedented achievement in the stateí´s highest classification.

“For having only one runner (Cole Stafford) returning from last yearí´s team and with Jesuit being the prohibitive favorite the performance by our guys was absolutely incredible. They really did come through with their best overall team performance of the year at the biggest meet of the year,” commented Coach Pete Boudreaux ’59.
