The Big Orange Wave Keeps Rolling Along in 2018
The Big Orange Wave kept rolling along in the 2018 cross country season with a win this past Saturday in the SJA Invitational at Highland Road Park. The Wave placed seven runners in the top fifteen in a race that had 283 competitors. All seven runners for CHS hit season best marks on the Highland Road course as the squad piled up 47 points for the victory.
Collin Hedges was the first Bear to hit the wire, finishing in 7th place with a time of 16:04. Chris Cuntz hit the wire a hair behind Hedges and picked up 8th place. Joseph Ellis was two seconds behind in 9th place, and Ben Langley (11th) and Zach Morgan (12th) rounded out the scoring five for CHS. Luke Bella and Blake Cook captured 13th and 15th place respectively to round out the field of seven. The team of seven raced in a tight pack throughout the race, a huge key to the victory for the Bears over the likes of St. Paul’s, Brother Martin, and Episcopal.
Peter Kelly was the winner of the Open/JV Race with a time of 16:35.
Coach Pete Boudreaux remarked…”We had an excellent run and an excellent score at an excellent meet. We continue to get better every week and our time gap between our first and seventh runner was an amazing twenty-three seconds. There were a lot of good things we saw at the SJA meet. We look forward to hosting the Catholic High Invitational on Saturday at Highland and are expecting a field of over 1,000 runners.”
The first race gets kicked off at 8:30am with the boys’ varsity race starting at 9am.
