The Brothers of the Sacred Heart Celebrate Their 191st Foundation Day

This Sunday, September 30, marked the 191st anniversary of the foundation of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart. The Brothers of the New Orleans Province celebrated this anniversary by assembling at Catholic High School to honor the Brothers who celebrated the anniversaries of their first vows.

Family members and friends also joined for the mass, social, meal and presentations. Brother Ray Hebert, SC presided at the mass, with Fr. Steve Williams, nephew of Brother Xavier, as con-celebrant. Brother James Burns, SC and Paul Montero led the singing. Piccadilly prepared food for the social and lunch. Mr. John Devlin, president of Brother Martin High School in New Orleans, spoke about Brother Barry, and Brother Noel Lemmon shared about Brother Xavier.

The students and faculty of Catholic High School celebrated this momentous occasion with a Foundation Day mass held on Friday, September 28. Brother Ray Hebert, SC celebrated the mass.

The Brothers of the Sacred Heart were founded in 1821 in Lyon, France by Father Andre Coindre with a mission to evangelize youth through education.
