The James P. ‘Jay’ Giblin II ’95 Memorial Endowed Scholarship Established
The James P. ‘Jay’ Giblin II ’95 Memorial Endowed Scholarship has recently been established through the generosity of numerous friends and business associates of his family. This scholarship will forever honor the memory of Jay, whose life was taken in an automobile accident on April 4, at the age of 31.
Jay attended elementary school at St. Thomas More, prior to coming to CHS in the 8th grade. After his graduation from CHS, he went on to graduate from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. His twin sister Janay Matt, an SJA graduate, also graduated from Northwestern and is currently the Assistant Director of Alumni Affairs at the university.
Jay was a project manager for Signature Homes and a devoted LSU fan. He possessed a great love for the outdoors and shared this love with many of his friends. He also shared his time and talent with the St. Jude Dream Day Foundation, where he would fish and spend time with kids that were affected by cancer. His parents, Cherie and Pat, are very proud of how important the St. Jude kids were to him.
‘Jay was obviously a special person,’ remarked CHS Director of Development Hal Dupuy ’73. ‘This scholarship and other endeavors like this will be a lasting tribute to a young man who surely meant so much to so many people.’ A special note of thanks goes to Mr. Joe Quinlan, Chairman of First National Bankers Bank, for organizing this scholarship in Jay’s memory.
