Track And Field Captures Jostens Invitational
The Bears have played host for most of the track and field season and have not strayed far from the Pete Boudreaux Track Facility. Traveling across town to Episcopal seemed to work well for the Bears, as they captured the Jostens Invitational by a comfortable margin. The Bears racked up 159.5 points to outdistance state track and field powers Zachary (91 points) and West Feliciana (68 points). Host school Episcopal was fourth (62 points) and fellow Brothers of the Sacred Heart school E.D. White was fifth (61 points).
The highlight of the 2018 season and meet happened as the CHS 4×400-meter relay team smashed the 37-year-old meet record. The foursome of Sethan Hollier, DJ Butler, Ebenezer Aggrey and Tyrell Jackson stopped the timer at 3:16.48, shattering the meet mark and lowering their season best time by more than five seconds.
Hollier added a win in the 200 meters with a sub-22 second posting, while Butler won the 400 meter dash in 48.64 seconds. Collin Hedges was the other winner for the Bears, running 1:59.7 to break the tape first in the 800 meter run.
