Track And Field Remains Undefeated

The CHS track and field team remained undefeated, winning their third outdoor meet of the season. The Bears scored 280 points to St. Amant’s 99 points, comfortably winning the CHS Alumni Meet. The Church Academy was third with 79 points. University Lab (52 points), McKinley (31), Brusly (8) and Central (2) rounded out the scoring.

Catholic won 13 events on Saturday afternoon, capturing all three throwing competitions, two of the jumps, two relays and six running events.

Individual winners were Jack Maddox (javelin); Tyler Hendricks (shot put); Ethan Ford (discus); Caleb Bonine (triple jump); Ebenezer Aggrey (high jump); Blake Cook (1600); Vernon Langley (110 hurdles); Collin Hedges (800); D.J. Butler (400); Sayer Sauviac (300 hurdles); and Collin Hedges (3200). The Bears outran their opponents in the 4×200 relay (1:28.8) and in the 4×400 relay (3:20.9).

The Bears finished one-two in six events: Hendricks and Parker Smith (shot put); Ford and Chris Shannon (discus); Cook and Matthew Hubbell (1600); Langley and Sauviac (110 hurdles); Butler and Luke DiResto (400); and Hedges and Chirs Cuntz (3200).

The Bears go for 4-0 on the 2018 season Thursday afternoon at the Bat Gourrier Relays at Broadmoor High School. Field events get underway at 3:30 p.m. with running events at 5:30 p.m. The Gourrier annually attracts the top track and field programs from around the Baton Rouge metro area.
