Track and Field Throw Squad Tosses 3 for 3 at Elder Outreach Invitational

Longtime throws coach Don Hood sent just a few participants to the Elder Outreach Invitational meet at Dutchtown. While short on quantity, the Bears were long on quality as the throws squad picked up three wins in three events.

Nigel Despinasse, one of the state’s best in the shot put and discus, racked up victories in those two events.  The senior notched a mark of 56-08.5 in the shot put and flung the discus 159-11. Cameron Tom finished second in the shot put with a throw of 50-3.  Cole McKnight won the javelin with an impressive heave of 168-08.

The three athletes picked up 36 points between them as they work toward the district meet later this month.

The junior varsity track and field team will host the annual “All Comers” meet here at the Pete Boudreaux Track.  Events begin at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5.
