Track Team Captures State Title

Spurred on by a huge following of students and parents the CHS track team put on an incredible performance at the state championships this past weekend at LSU, placing in thirteen events, winning three events and finishing as state runner up in five more events.  The Bears, for the ninth consecutive competition, more than doubled the score of the runner up team, to run away with the 5-A state title.  The team score was one of the highest ever recorded in state meet competition and enabled the Bears to win their second consecutive state title and their sixth title in the last seven years.  Your Bears now own the eight highest scores ever recorded in state meet competition, have won their fourteenth team titles in outdoor track and have  finished the season as the state champions or state runners-up a record 21 times. 

Individual State Champions were:

     Chance Stephens (High Jump- 6í´8íñ)

Individual Runners-Up were:        
     Chadd Burns (Pole Vault í 16í´0íñ)
     Ross Quinlan (Shot Put í 53í´2 _íñ)
     Matt Root (Javelin í 177í´9íñ)
     Nigel Despinasse (Discus í 165í´6íñ)
     Davis Richardson (300 Hurdles í 38.65)

3rd Place Finishers:           
     Arthur Price (110 Hurdles í 14.02, 200 Meter Dash í 22.02)
     Nigel Despinasse (Shot Put í 52í´5íñ)

4th Place Finishers:
     Kam Cummings (300 Hurdles í 39.47 [Freshman School Record])
     Jace Attuso (Triple Jump í 44í´10 _íñ)
     4×400 Relay (John Cooper, Kam Cummings, Ryan Stephens, Davis Richardson í 3:23.23)

5th Place Finisher:
     Pierce Hill (1600 Meters í 4:30.91)

6th Place Finisher:
     Jeffrey Kelley (3200 Meters í 9:52.46)
