Varsity Baseball Moves to 18-2 After Weekend Play
The Catholic High baseball program is off to a flying start for the 2015 season as all three teams are making early impressions around the area and state.
The varsity Bears sport a record of 18-2, losing only to nationally ranked Sulphur (18-0 record) and 2014 Class 5A runner-up Live Oak. Head Baseball Coach Brad Bass’ charges have defeated respected programs such as: pre-season nationally ranked #2 St. Thomas More and #24 Barbe (the defending Class 5A state champion); Acadiana; Zachary; Live Oak; Teurlings Catholic; Archbishop Rummel; Sam Houston; and Denham Springs.
The Bears swept their opponents in a four game series in the Atchafalaya Challenge in Lafayette this past weekend and look forward to a Thursday night matchup versus crosstown, non-district rival, St. Michael, with first pitch coming at 6:00 p.m. The game will be televised locally on CST. The game will also be streamed live through the Bruin Broadcast Network. Click here to watch the game live.
The junior varsity Bears have a 9-0 mark in 2015 and captured the Catholic High JV Invitational. The freshmen Bears are enjoying success as well, putting up a 6-2 record and recently won a tournament in Lafayette.
