Varsity Basketball Team Concluded First Round of District Play

Last night, the basketball team concluded its first round of district play with a tough 51-45 point loss to the Central Wildcats. Coach Todd used over ten players, and this tremendous team effort put the Bears in a great position to knock off the 6th ranked team in the state. Catholic High had a chance to tie the game with 17 seconds left in the 4th quarter, but a three point shot was off its mark. The intensity of the game and the quality of competition will help the Bears in their quest for the State Play-offs.

Top scorers for the Bears:
Chase Ellis (Jr.) 13
Jason Peters (Jr.) 9
Cody Hoover (Soph.) 8
Lee Barbay (Sr.) 7
Jason Butcher (Jr.) 7.

The teams record now stands at 17-9 overall and 3-3 in district competition. The next game for the Bears will be Friday against Walker at Walker High. J.V. competition tips off at 6:00pm with varsity action to follow. Come support the team in their first game of second round of district play.
