Varsity Bears Dominate in First District Game

The Bears improved their record to an impressive 4-0 last Friday night with a 53-0 victory over district opponent Walker. The contest marked the opening of the district season and the defense, offense, and special teams stepped up their intensity.
The ‘Black Hat’ defense has not allowed an opponent to score in three straight games. The total points allowed this season is seven. Big hits and big plays were the highlights against the Wildcats. M. Broha and J. Peters provided pressure on the quarterback all night and the defense had 6 sacks during the contest. This strong pressure produced errand throws all night. Thomas Broussard picked two of these passes off and ran one back for a T.D.
The offense had a stellar night on the ground led by Red Minnor and Jeremy Stewart. Their combined effort provided over 300y and 4 touchdowns. Junior QB Ryan Lewis went 5-6 for 135y and 2 touchdowns. Senior F.B. Brandon Wheeler and Danny Hollier also found the end zone on short bursts up the middle.
The special teams were lead by Thomas Broussard who took advantage of 4 punts by the wildcats for a return average of over 30ys. Logan Robique provided conssistant snaps on extra points and sophomore kicker William Ledet was perfect with his extra pint attempts.
Next Fridays game will play a major role I the district championship. CHS battles 4-0 Dutchtown in a battle of two top ten teams. The game will take place at 7:00 @ Olympia field. Buy your tickets early at the CHS bookstore and save time and money.
