Varsity Lacrosse Team Clinches Playoff Berth

In their final regular season game the Varsity Lacrosse team lost 11-9 to Brother Martin in the best played and the most closely matched game of the season.  Even with the loss the Bears clinched a quarter final playoff berth where they will face Brother Martin again this weekend in New Orleans to advance to the state Semi-final game against the winner of St. Thomas More and Caddo Magnet of Shreveport.

The Junior Varsity Lacrosse Team came up short with a 7-0 loss to the Crusaders of Brother Martin in the heat at Muss Bertolino Stadium in Kenner.  The Bears were missing a couple of key starters that were committed to the Varsity squad for the later game.  The JV finished the season in third place in the LHSLL state standings.

The Freshman Lacrosse Team finished their season this weekend with three final victories.  The Bears defeated Brother Martin Freshmen on Saturday 9-2 and went on to win the St. Paul’s Invitational on Sunday with wins over the State Champion Jesuit Blue Jays (4-3) and St. Paul’s Wolves (4-3) in a sudden death overtime win on the Wolves’ home turf.  The Freshmen finished their season second in the state with an overall win percentage of 88 percent with 7 wins and a single loss.

All totaled the Lacrosse Teams posted a regular season record across all squads of 21 and 5 for an overall 81 percent win percentage.  The Bears outscored opponents by a margin of 159 to 86.  Another outstanding years for Catholic High School Lacrosse.
