Wrestling Coach Tommy Prochaska Named Louisiana Coach of the Year
Catholic High School Head Wrestling Coach Tommy Prochaska has been selected as the Louisiana Coach of the Year for 2007-08 by the National High School Wrestling Coaches Association.
Prochaska led the Bears to the Division I-Class 5A state wrestling title, for the first time in 33 years, on February 9th and ended a 25-year reign of Jesuit and Brother Martin in New Orleans. CHS is the only school outside the New Orleans area to win a state wrestling title in Division I.
The Bears also won their sixth straight City Meet title and had a 15-1 dual meet record for Prochaska, who has coached at Catholic for 11 years. CHS has won two state wrestling titles ‘ one in 1975 and 2008.
