Wrestling Team Captures State Runner-Up Honor

The Catholic High Wrestling Team captured the State Runner-up honor at the Louisiana High School Athletic Association/State Farm State Wrestling Tournament on February 12. 

In the finals, Zack Louis won the 132 class by 3-2 2 OT.  Brandon Luckett, won the 152 class on a major decision and Kyle Hidalgo captured the 285 class by pinning his opponent. 

Taking Runner-up honors in their classes were Landon Becknel in 126; Michael Bourgoyne in 138; and Ryan Toups in 145.

In the consolation bracket, Nick LaMotte defeated his opponent in the 113 class; and Sidney Rodriguez defeated his opponent in the 120 class. 

Team totals in Division I included Brother Martin 283.2, Catholic High 279.3, Rummel 273.4 and Jesuit 234.5. 

Tommy Prochaska is Head Wrestling Coach for Catholic High.  Coach Prochaska had a career milestone as the head coach with achieving his 200th dual meet victory this season. He has lead the team to two state titles, one state runner-up and 10 consecutive city titles in his 15 years as head coach and a record of 203-46-1.
