Wrestling Team Dominates During Holiday Meets

The wrestling team placed 2nd in the Brother Martin Tournament over the holidays, but had several champions in Blake Savoie, Michael Love and JP Luckett. Luckett was named outstanding wrestler for the meet. The team followed up that performance by winning the Jesuit Dual Meet Tournament by defeating Jesuit High School in the finals by a score of 44-18 and in the process running their season record in dual meets to 17-0.

This past weekend the team traveled to Mt. Brook High School in Alabama and defeated the three time defending State Champions Vestavia Hills High School from Alabama and the defending State Champions Whitewater High School from Georgia to win the meet by 30 pts. It was a total team effort with each wrestlers placing in the top 8 in their respective weight class. The team had Blake Savoie, Ben Carroll, Michael Love and Chase Fresina in the finals, with Savoie and Love taking home 1st place honors. Blake Savoie became a two-time winner of this out-of-state tournament.

The Bears are in action again this Wednesday, January 7, in the CHS Gym as they take on Brusly High School and Dutchtown in the second to last home meet of the year.
