Wrestling Team Finishes Second in CHS Duals

The  CHS Wrestling team finished second at the Catholic High Duals on Saturday, Dec. 5.  The Bears defeated Dutchtown (47-20), East Ascension (60-22), Brusly (48-33) and Hahnville (51-27).  The lone loss came at the hands of Hoover High of Alabama (36-30) in the last individual match of the evening.

Going undefeated on Saturday were Evan Goldsmith (106), Daniel Gunn (126), Davis Polito (138) and Jacob Fereday (160).

Bears who have posted impressive individual records so far this year include: Evan Goldsmith (106) 12-7; Cameron Carpenter (120) 16-1; Daniel Gunn (126) 19-3; Lance Blanchard (132) 15-9; Davis Polito (138) 18-6; Brent Torres (145) 14-8; Andrew Messina (152) 17-5; Jacob Fereday (160) 22-5; and Nick Danna (182) 19-3.

The varsity grapplers take to the mat on Wednesday, Dec. 9 as they travel for a 6 p.m. whistle in New Orleans at Jesuit.  The Blue Jays are coming off a third place finish at a meet in the Fort Walton Beach, Florida area.  Jesuit is coached by former Catholic High wrestling assistant Sheridan Moran who is in his first year of leading the program at Jesuit.

The junior varsity will see their next action at CHS on Saturday, Dec. 12 with matches getting underway at 1 p.m.
