Wrestling Team Moves to 15-6 on the Dual Meet Season

The CHS Wrestling squad participated in the Louisiana Classic, one of the premier prep wrestling events in the South, on Saturday, Jan. 16 at BRCC. The Bears placed 6th out of 43 teams.

The following Bears placed in the top six in the Classicoverall season records are in parentheses:

126 – Daniel Gunn (36-10) – 4th overall
138 – Davis Polito (34-11) – 4th overall
160 – Jacob Fereday (38-9) – 2nd overall
220 – James DeLee (12-4) – 6th overall
285 – K.J. Wilson (17-4) – 2nd overall

The CHS wrestling team traveled to district rival Dutchtown on Wednesday, Jan. 20 and defeated the Griffins 43-26.  The Bears are now 15-6 on the dual meet season.

Winners versus Dutchtown were:

Luke Romano (113), Daniel Gunn (126), Lance Blanchard (132), Tyler Werner (145), Jacob Fereday (160), Nick Danna (182), Jenard James (195), Braeden Smith (220) and K.J. Wilson (285).

The grapplers hit the mat on Saturday, Jan. 23 at the prestigious Ken Cole Invitational hosted by Comeaux High School in Lafayette. The Cole is the final weekend tourney prep for the City Championships.  Wrestling begins at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at Comeaux.
