Wrestling Team Wins Championship

The CHS wrestling team won the Greater Baton Rouge City Championship this past weekend (January 26). The team now has won 20 city titles and 6 in a row. The team placed 13 of the 14 wrestlers in the top 4 in each weight class. The team had the most city champions in school history with 8. Luis Alexander and Alex Hurst both became 3 time city champions. Blake Savoie, Beau Town, and Trent Fresina all became 2 time city champions. Other champions for the team were Sam Knight, Ben Carroll and J.P. Luckett. The JV team also won the City title as well with by beating the 2nd place team by 100 points. The next action is the State Meet February 8-9 in New Orleans.

Leading up to the City Championship, the varsity team took 2nd place in the Ken Cole Invitational at Comeaux High School on January 18 and 19. The team was lead by Blake Savoie, Luis Alexander, Drew Boatner and Trent Fresina.

The JV wrestling team also placed 3rd in the varsity tournament at St. Amant High School on January 19. The team will be back in action Thursday, January 23, at Zachary at 6:30 p.m.
