Varsity and JV Basketball Faced Walker With One Win and One Loss

The Varsity basketball team lost last night in a hard-fought game against Walker. The Bears will face Denham Springs Friday night in Denham. Also, please come out and support your Bears on Monday as they square off against Central in a big district game in the gym. For all games, freshmen start at 5, JV at 6 and varsity at 7:15. Soccer Team Finishes District By Defeating District Rival Baton Rouge High

The soccer team finished the district season with a convincing victory over district rival Baton Rouge High on Saturday. The final score was 7-1. Scoring for the Bears were Rick Guerrero with 3 goals and BJ Reine, Rusty Sanchez, Kyle Robert and Matt Allen with 1 goal each. The Bears finish with a perfect 12-0 district record and have a 19-5 overall record. Wrestling Team Captures City Championship

Congratulations to the wrestling team for winning the Greater Baton Rouge City Championship. The team made school history by winning the championship for the third straight year, capturing five of the last six titles. Kyle Kleinpeter, Clay McKnight, Brian Parenton, Jonathan Lambert, and Keith Hidalgo led the team to victory. Catholic High Receives 2004 BellSouth Sportsmanship Award

Catholic High School is the recipient for the third year in a row of the BellSouth Sportsmanship Award. Given since 1999 by BellSouth in conjunction with the Baton Rouge Area Football Officials, the award recognizes the team that maintains the highest level of sportsmanship as determined by the Baton Rouge Area Football Association. All 43 high school football teams in a seven-parish area are eligible for the award, and all five classifications are included in the judging for the award. Astronomy Club Visits NASA

Seven students from the Catholic High Astronomy Club visited NASA's Space Center Houston, Johnson Space Center on Sunday, January 23, 2005. Astronomy Club members visiting NASA were Taylor Johnson, Alex Demas, Joey Chatelain, Josh Barrios, Nicholas Comeaux, Adam Frost and Andrew Bayer. CHS Faculty and Staff Reach Out To The Community

The faculty and staff of Catholic High School reached out to the community during a Day of Experience on Monday, January 24. Eighty-four members volunteered at sites throughout the Baton Rouge area including the St. Vincent de Paul dining room, pharmacy and thrift stores; Connections for Life, YWCA Early Head Start Istrouma, Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired, United Methodist HOPE and Southdowns Elementary.
