Orange Wave Prepares for Season Opener, Bayou Boogie Invitational

Sixteen state championships, 10 state runner-ups, and 25 district/metro titles is quite a resume for the Catholic High Cross Country program and legendary coach Pete Boudreaux.  Boudreaux, fresh off of receiving the honor as Louisiana coach of the year by the U.S. Track & field and Cross Country Association, is preparing his “Orange Wave” for the 2015 season.

Boudreaux and his staff recently put the Wave through the paces in the annual “Kleinert Avenue Time Trial,” a two mile intrasquad race to assess the team’s conditioning and race readiness.
Senior Jeffrey Kelley, the outstanding runner on the 2014 All-Metro team, completed the flat, shady course in a time of 10:01.  Fellow senior and 2014 All-Metro team member David Toups stopped the watch right behind Kelley at 10:03. The top five was rounded out by Caleb Dugas (10:32), 2014 honorable mention All-Metro team member Miles McLindon (10:33), and Michael Hubbell (10:38).

The team is gearing up for the season opener in the Bayou Boogie Invitational at Highland Park on Saturday, September 5, 2015.  Running gets underway early as the starter’s pistol fires at 8 a.m.
