Peter Mata ’15 Competes in Tournament at Pebble Beach
CHS Senior Peter Mata was selected to represent East Baton Rouge First Tee Chapter at the Nature Valley First Tee Open at Pebble Beach September 23 í 29, 2014. He was paired with Golf Pro Steve Lowery during the tournament. After two days, Mata and Lowery finished six under.
Mata was one of 81 participants representing 56 chapters of The First Tee from around the country. Juniors were partnered with 81 Champions Tour Players. The tournament was played at Pebble Beach Golf Links and Poppy Hills Golf Course.

Mata was selected through an application and interview process through The First Tee. Only one person from each chapter can be selected and only two from Louisiana participated. The First Tee is a nonprofit youth development organization that provides program to youth that centered through Nine Core ValuesÈ: honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy and judgment.
The Nature Valley First Tee Open is chaired by Clint Eastwood and honorary chair is Arnold Palmer. The event is in its 11th year.
