Sophomore Grayson McManus Receives Silver Medal in AAU Junior Olympics
CHS Sophomore Grayson McManus participated in the AAU Junior Olympics held at Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Virginia July 31 í August 7, 2010. Competing in the intermediate boys 100 meter dash, McManus finished in second place to receive the Silver Medal. He had qualified for the event as the number one sprinter to represent the Southern Region.
While qualifying for the national event, Grayson won gold medals in the state, district and regional qualifiers. His first gold medals came in the Louisiana Southern Championships, held in Lafayette, with first place finishes in the 100 meters, 200 meters and 4X100 Relay.
In the Junior Olympics District Qualifier, Grayson won first place in the 100 meters, 200 meters
and 4X100 Relay. His relay team was named the Top Sprinters for Louisiana and Mississippi.
Grayson received gold medals in the Junior Olympics Regional Qualifier with first place finishes in the 100 meters, 200 meters and 4×100 Relay. His relay team was, again, named Top Sprinters from Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee.
