Students Participate in Annual Mission Trip to Klagetoh
Eight CHS students went on a mission trip to St. Anneí´s Mission on the Navajo reservation in Klagetoh, Arizona from June 8 through June 15. The mission is run by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart, and the students participating gave a week of their summer to spend time with the children on the reservation.
Ethan Alexander, Ben Anderson, Hunter Dí´Armond, Brandon Fontenot, Jon David Hirsch, Ryan Schexnaildre, Tyler Shipley and Simon Silverberg orchestrated a vacation Bible school for the children of the area. The Bible school included music, scripture lessons, games and arts and crafts. In their free time in the evenings after Bible school, CHS students went hiking in Canyon de Chelly National Park, visited Window Rock, the capital of the Navajo Nation, explored the Petrified Forest National Park, played BINGO at the local nursing home and learned local traditional native dances in Gallup.
Each night concluded with a prayer service around the fire and sharing of that dayí´s experiences. On the last day, the CHS students put on a program of music and skits for the families of the Bible School kids.
