Tennis Team Advances to State Tournament
The Catholic High Tennis Team competed in the quarterfinals in Mandeville Tuesday, April 28. The three doubles teams took the court with only one coming out victorious in the quarterfinals. Charles Rees and Michael Edmonson beat the number six seed from Baton Rouge High with a score of 6-3 and 6-2. The team of Michael Eggie and Dominic Gulino played the number four seed from Northshore only to lose in a third set by the scores of 3-6; 6-1 and 6-0. Last on the court were Brett Falgoust and Ben Perrodin playing the number two seed from Mandeville. After a hard fought battle, they also came out on the short end with scores of 6-4; 4-6 and 6-3.
Edmonson and Rees faced the number three seed from St. Paul’s in the semifinals. The St. Paul’s pair pulled it out in a third set by the score of 3-6; 6-4 and 6-3.
The Bears were very well represented at this year’s regionals with four of the five courts advancing to the state tournament scheduled for Monday, May 4 at St. Thomas More in Lafayette.
