The Big Orange Wave Heads North to Natchitoches Early Saturday Morning
The Big Orange Wave, #1 ranked boys cross country team in the state, will head north to Natchitoches early Saturday morning to compete in the Pre-State Meet on the campus of Northwestern State University. NSU has long been host for the Louisiana High School Cross Country Championships and the race will be run on the same course as the state meet.
Last week, the Wave did not compete in a race, but definitely did not have the day off. Coach Boudreaux put the team through a time trial on Kleinert Avenue and the practice session proved to be one of the best ever under the oaks of Kleinert. The longtime coach called Saturday’s times, “The most successful Kleinert time trial ever. 100% of our runners posted personal bests for Kleinert and an amazing six runners ran sub-16 minute marks for three miles. Simply amazing.”
James Lalonde, Collin Hedges, Chris Cuntz, Ben Langley, Luke Bella, and Owen Simon were the six pack that busted the 16 minute barrier. Lalonde stopped the watch in 15:27 for three miles, the third best time ever on Kleinert Avenue. Daniel Sullivan ran the second best time ever for two miles on Kleinert with a 10:22 performance. “The cooler temperatures and the drive to get better were key ingredients for the fast times”, added Boudreaux.
The Wave will return to Highland Road Park the following Saturday, October 27th, for the Metro Championship.
