Wheelchair Ramp Construction Benefits CHS Wrestlers and the Community

On the day before Louisiana was struck by Hurricane Ida, the CHS wrestling team labored to complete a wheelchair ramp for Ms. Bessie Mae, 85. Coach Tommy Prochaska believes this annual project offers young men an opportunity to see the blessing of servings others, as well as hands-on experience with a variety of tools and skills. Seeing a meaningful project through from start to finish has become a great way to kick off the school year as a team, and lead into the wrestling season.

This project was made possible by Rebuilding Together Baton Rouge, and was their 27th ramp this year. Rebuilding Together Baton Rouge is a local affiliate of a national organization that brings volunteers and communities together to improve the homes and lives of low-income elderly or disabled homeowners. It is the only organization of its kind in the community, with a growing list of requests for assistance.
