Youth and Government Club Attends State Convention
The CHS Youth and Government club participated in the Louisiana Youth and Government legislative convention Thursday, February 13 through Saturday, February 15 at the Louisiana State Capitol.
Youth and Government clubs from high schools across the state gathered to take their student-submitted bills through the legislative process. Students are divided to form a Senate and House of Representatives, where they debate and vote on the bills before being presented to the íÍgovernoríñ for signing. This year, two bills written by CHS students were passed into law. One bill was written by Trey Menville and Pierce Hill, and the other was written by Ethan Barbin.
Hill was elected to serve as House Speaker Pro-Temp for the 2015 conference. Additionally, Menville won the Monice Oliphant Award, which is the most coveted award for leadership of the conference.
